Understanding your visa options under South Australia’s DAMA

Skilled visa subclasses endorsed under DAMA

Skilled & Business Migration, as South Australia’s Designated Area Representative (DAR), can endorse a nomination under a Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA) for the following visa subclasses (Labour Agreement stream):

  • Subclass 494 – Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa (SESR)
  • Subclass 482 – Skills in Demand visa (SID)
  • Subclass 186 – Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS)

Subclass 494 Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (SESR)

Work ExperienceGenerally 3 years, however concessions are available depending on occupation.

LocationCan be on/offshore to apply.

Permanent PathwayTransition to Permanent Resident (Skilled Regional) visa subclass 191
CostThere is no cost from Skilled & Business Migration for applying for a Labour Agreement Endorsement. Costs of sponsoring a migrant worker are determined by the Department of Home Affairs.

Subclass 482 Skills in Demand visa (SID)

482 SID (LA Stream)
Work ExperienceGenerally 2 years, however concessions are available depending on occupation.
English LevelDependent on occupation. Concessions available - see occupation list.
LocationCan be on/offshore to apply.
Visa TermUp to 4 years (up to 5 years for Hong Kong residents)
AgeNo age limit (Age limit applies if Visa Applicant is nominated for ENS 186 visa at a later stage.)
Permanent PathwayTransition to ENS subclass 186 (Labour Agreement stream)
CostThere is no cost from Skilled & Business Migration for applying for a Labour Agreement Endorsement. Costs of sponsoring a migrant worker are determined by the Department of Home Affairs.

Subclass 186 Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS)

The DAR can only endorse your request for nomination for 186 subclass at the time the nominee is eligible.

The nominee is eligible for 186 nomination after holding the 482 visa for at least 2 years.

When the employer is ready to nominate the nominee for 186, they will need to submit a variation request.
