Skills & Work Experience Requirements
Nominees for this occupation must satisfy the following skills, qualifications, experience and employment background requirements:
- have been assessed and verified by a MINTRAC registered assessor, or an assessor approved by the Commonwealth, with a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment experienced in meat processing, to be Skilled Meat Workers with a minimum skill level commensurate with the MINTRAC referenced AQF Certificate III in meat processing; and
- either:
(i) demonstrate a minimum of two (2) years skilled work experience obtained at a
Meat Processing Establishment (MPE) acceptable to the Parties; or
(ii) have been working in Australia on a Subclass 457 or TSS visa at an Australian MPE acceptable to the Parties for at least nine (9) months prior to being nominated; or
(iii) at least one year relevant work experience in Australia on a temporary visa other than a Subclass 457 or TSS visa at an Australian MPE acceptable to the Parties.
Work Experience must be:- In the nominated occupation, or a related occupation at the same skill level.
- At least 20 hours per week.
- Undertaken within the last 3 years (TSS/SESR) or 5 years (ENS).
- Can be undertaken prior to commencing study, while studying or post-qualification.
- Can be undertaken as part of a formal arrangement such as internships, industry and clinical placements, apprenticeships and traineeships, and work experience required through the Job Ready Program (JRP).
- Can be served concurrently with any work experience used to substitute for formal qualifications as per ANZSCO requirements, provided that the work experience was at the same skill level.
In cases where work experience is used to substitute for formal qualifications: Skill Level 4 occupations, which require 2 years of experience to substitute for a formal qualification, work experience must be undertaken within the last 3 years.
Skills Assessment Requirements
The applicant must have been assessed and verified by a MINTRAC registered assessor, or an assessor approved by the Commonwealth, with a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment experienced in meat processing, to be Skilled Meat Workers with a minimum skill level commensurate with the MINTRAC referenced AQF Certificate III in meat processing;
Concessions
English Concession Type 1 – SID (482) and SESR (494): Overall score of IELTS 5.0 (or equivalent) with a minimum score of IELTS 4.0 (or equivalent) for each individual band.
English Concession Type 2 – SID (482) and SESR (494): Outer regional South Australia only: Overall IELTS score of 4.5 (or equivalent) with a minimum score of IELTS 4.0 (or equivalent) for each individual band.
English Concession Type 3 – ENS (186): Overall score of IELTS 5.0 (or equivalent) with a minimum score of IELTS 4.5 (or equivalent) for each individual band.
TSMIT Concession - Available for this occupation
Age Concession/Permanent Residence Pathway:
- SESR (494): You must be under 55 years of age at the time of the approved sponsor's nomination.
- TSS (482):There is no age limit, however to transition to permanent residency, you must be under 55 years of age when applying for the ENS (186) visa, as set out below.
- ENS (186): You must be under 55 years of age at the time of the approved sponsor's nomination.
