Before you begin, it’s important to understand the process of applying for state nomination. This page outlines each stage of the application and the documents you’ll need to prepare to ensure you’re assessment ready.
All applications to Skilled & Business Migration must be submitted online through the Skilled and Business Migration Apply Portal.
Below, you’ll find the information and steps you need to follow to get started, whether you’re currently living and working in South Australia (onshore) or applying from overseas (offshore).
If you’re living and working in South Australia, you need to complete a Registration of Interest (ROI) following the steps below:
Make sure your occupation is available for state nomination on the South Australian Skilled Occupation List. Check the available nomination streams and determine which best suits your circumstances. Then, use the document checklist below to prepare your documents before you start your application.
Create an Expression of Interest (EOI) on SkillSelect, the Department of Home Affairs system. Fill out your information, and make sure you select South Australia as your preferred state. Record your SkillSelect EOI ID as you’ll need this for your state nomination application.
All applications need to be submitted online to Skilled & Business Migration using the Apply Portal so make sure you have created an account.
Prepare your ROI application in the Apply Portal and attach all the mandatory documents. Please ensure you have included your SkillSelect EOI ID. Once completed submit your application and wait for a decision to be made by Skilled & Business Migration.
Note: there are no fees for ROI applications. If your ROI receives a Not Invited decision, you will not be able to submit a new application for a period of 3 months.
If you’re currently overseas, follow the steps below to let Skilled & Business Migration know you’re interested in migrating to South Australia.
Make sure your occupation is on the South Australian Skilled Occupation List and available for offshore applicants. Check that you meet the eligibility criteria for the Offshore stream, then use the document checklist below to prepare the documents needed.
Create an Expression of Interest (EOI) on SkillSelect This is a Department of Home Affairs system. Fill out your information, and make sure you select South Australia as your preferred state. Record your SkillSelect EOI ID as you’ll need this if you are invited for state nomination application.
Wait for a possible invitation from Skilled and Business Migration. SkillSelect EOIs are reviewed by Skilled and Business Migration and invitation rounds are conducted throughout the year.
Note: You do not need to submit a Registration of Interest (ROI).
You can only apply for state nomination if you have received an invitation from Skilled & Business Migration after your Registration of Interest (ROI) or your SkillSelect Expression of interest EOI was reviewed.
If you are invited to apply for state nomination, follow the steps below:
Offshore applicants do not need to register for the Apply Portal until they receive an invitation from Skilled and Business Migration.If you have now received an invitation, it’s time to register for the Apply Portal.
Review the document checklist again and make sure you have all the necessary information for your state nomination application.
Complete and submit your application through the Skilled and Business Migration Apply Portal. Instructions are included in your invitation email. Attach all the required documents and record your SkillSelect EOI ID correctly in your application before you submit.
Make sure you submit your application before the due date listed in your invitation email. Your invitation will expire after this date.
