Regional Certifying Body

Employer sponsorship for skilled migrants

Cannot fill your South Australian business position locally?

You may be able to sponsor a skilled migrant to join your team.

The Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (SESR) visa (subclass 494 Employer Sponsored Stream):

  • allows eligible business to sponsor skilled migrants living overseas or in Australia
  • is available to businesses in metropolitan and regional areas and
  • is available to businesses that meet a number of criteria demonstrating the availability of skilled positions that cannot be filled by an Australian worker.

Visa eligibility for South Australian employers

You may be able to sponsor a worker under the SESR visa if your business:

  • is a Standard Business Sponsor (or has applied to become one)
  • has a genuine need for a paid employee in a skilled role
  • has undertaken labour market testing and cannot fill the role locally
  • is offering a full-time, skilled position that is likely to continue for at least five years
  • has applied for Regional Certifying Body (RCB) advice (see below)
  • meets the Department of Home Affairs visa and sponsorship criteria

Regional Certifying Body (RCB) advice

The Skilled & Business Migration team acts as South Australia’s Regional Certifying Body. We provide advice to the Department of Home Affairs on SESR nomination applications.

RCB advice confirms that the position is genuine and cannot be filled locally. It must be obtained from the RCB located in the same state or territory as the nominated role.

If your business intends to sponsor a skilled migrant under this visa, you must submit an RCB application to Skilled and Business Migration.
